What is LTL shipping?
Less-than-truckload shipping moves freight that does not fill a trailer. Your shipment shares space with other shippers' freight and passes through carrier terminals between pickup and delivery. It is cheaper than truckload for small shipments and involves more handling.
How is LTL priced?
By freight class, weight, dimensions, lane and accessorials. Class is set by density, stowability, handling and liability under the NMFC. Getting class wrong at booking is the usual reason an invoice exceeds the quote.
When should I consolidate LTL into a truckload?
Generally once several shipments are heading the same direction in the same window. Four LTL bills into one region usually cost more than a single truckload plus pool distribution. We will model it against your current spend.
